Arsenal and Manchester United sent scouts to Portugal last night to scout Porto striker Andre Silva, according to the Daily Express.

The Gunners have reportedly watched the Portuguese international a number of times over the past few months, and the 21 year old has been a prolific goalscorer since he established himself as a first team player last season. So far this campaign, Silva has managed 18 goals in all competitions.

The striker was not able to impress the visiting scouts yesterday evening however, as Porto went down to a 2-0 defeat at home to Juventus in the Champions League tie.

The early loss of Alex Telles to two yellow cards in the first half meant the forward had to be substituted after 30 minutes to make room for a defender Miguel Layun.

Porto managed to hold out until mid way through the second half before two goals in three minutes from Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves put Juventus in control of the last 16 match.
