Mesut Ozil is ready to sign a new deal at Arsenal, but only if Arsene Wenger does.

The German playmaker’s current deal expires in 2018 and has recently claimed that putting pen to paper on a new contract comes down to whether Wenger commits to the club as well.

Wenger’s contract expires this summer and although a new two-year deal has been tabled, the Frenchman has yet to sign and says he will more than likely make his decision on his future in spring.

Ozil has claimed he is happy at Arsenal but and says Wenger was one of the main reasons why he joined the club from Real Madrid in 2013.

The 28-year-old told Kicker (via the Daily Mirror):

‘I am very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract. The fans want that I stay and now it is just down to the club.

‘The club knows that I am here most of all because of Arsène Wenger. He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have. The club also knows that I want to be clear what the manager is going to [do in the future].’

It’s believed Ozil currently pockets around £140,000-a-week and has been offered a new deal worth approximately £200,000-a-week.

So it appears when Wenger decides his future, so will Ozil. At least the German has told us his plans, so it looks like we just have to wait until spring to find out what’s going to happen.
