Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has insisted he is not interested in signing Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem this January.

The Bundesliga club returned to training last week following the winter break but are without seven first-team players. The likes of Mario Gotze, Raphael Guerreiro. Nuri Sahin, Neven Subotic, Sebastien Rode and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are all out injured, and rumours last week were circulating that Zelalem was close to completing a move to the German club.

But despite his depleted squad, Tuchel has dismissed a deal going through for the 19-year-old Gunner.

When asked by ESPN FC about the rumoured move for Zelalem, the Dortmund boss said:

‘Right now? No. Not as far as I’m concerned.’

The United States Under-23 international spent the entirety of last season on loan at Rangers and returned to the club last summer. However, with Zelalem struggling to break into the first-team this season and his current contract at the Emirates set to expire in the summer, the midfielder could leave Arsenal for a cut-price fee this month.
