Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insists Moussa Dembele will not be sold this month.

The 20-year-old forward has managed to net 19 goals for Celtic so far this season since making the switch to the Scottish club from Fulham last summer and has attracted interest from a few Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

Last month, it was reported that Arsenal and Liverpool were frontrunners for the France Under-21 international, while Manchester City have also been credited with interest.

However, Rodgers has dismissed rumours linking Dembele with a January move away from Celtic Park.

When asked if there was a possibility of the striker leaving Celtic during January, Rodgers replied:

‘I wouldn’t have thought so.

‘He’s obviously had a very good season and I can’t stop people writing about him or his valuation. But at the moment he’s very happy here and enjoying working and developing.

‘He won’t go in January, no question about that. We don’t need to sell. We need our best players to finish the season the best we can.’

Dembele still has three-and-a-half-years left to run on his existing contract and although Rodgers remains adamant that he will be able to keep his star forward during the January transfer window period, the same cannot be said come the summer.
