Former Arsenal player Robert Pires has revealed he has talked to Alexis Sanchez about his contract situation.

The Chilean has 18 months left on his current deal and has been in talks with the club over a renewal but speaking to Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Pires said that Sanchez was uncertain about where his future lies:

“I spoke to Alexis last week and asked about the renewal. He told me he didn’t know, that he only cared to play. The renewal is not a subject for Alexis. He doesn’t know what is going to happen, he just wants to play and enjoy.”

It has been widely reported that Sanchez has been subject to a bid from the Chinese Super League. Hebei China Fortune, managed by former Manchester City manager and fellow Chilean Manuel Pellegrini, are believed to have offered Sanchez a huge salary of £400,000-a-week.

Arsenal are said to be prepared to increase Sanchez’s wages significantly but according to Pires, the attacker is still deliberating over his future.

The forward is crucial to the Gunners’ plans after scoring 17 goals in 28 appearances so far this season; the latest coming as a 98th minute winner against Burnley on Sunday.
