Inter Milan are looking to head off competition from Arsenal and Chelsea for the signing of Wolfsburg wing-back Ricardo Rodriguez, according to calciomercato.com.
The Italian website believes that Inter’s owners the Suning Group are keen on strengthening the Serie A side’s squad in the January transfer window and are willing to finance a €25 million (£21 million) move for the Swiss international to help their push for a Champions League place.
The Italian club are currently seventh in the league after a poor start to the season. The sacking of Frank De Boer and the appointment as manager of Stefano Pioli has led to an upturn in form but they are still five points off third place Napoli as they reach the mid way point of the campaign.
The Sun reported yesterday that Chelsea were keen to strengthen their left side by making a bid Rodriguez, while the Gunners are said to need to sell Kieran Gibbs before making any move for the 24-year-old.
