Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann ahead of a sensational summer swoop.

It’s believed Arsene Wenger approached the France international over a possible move to the Emirates during Euro 2016, but the player declined the offer, claiming he was happy at Atletico.

However, Metro now claims the 25-year-old could be more open to a move away from the Vicente Calderon at the end of the season, with the club slipping to sixth place in La Liga and manager Diego Simeone’s future in doubt.

It seems Wenger is keen to recruit a world-beater upfront should Alexis Sanchez decide to leave the Gunners and has also targeted a move for Torino striker Andrea Belotti as reported a couple of days ago.

The potential signing of Griezmann would be a massive one, but the Gunners would almost certainly face stiff competition from Europe’s elite for the Frenchman’s services.

But any move for a new forward will more than likely wait until the end of the season, with Wenger having the likes of Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck at his disposal.
