Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all reportedly keen on Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, but the La Liga club’s president is desperate to keep him.

The Frenchman moved to Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015 for £7 million and has excelled with the Spanish club, with his tough-tackling and combative nature drawing attention from the Premier League trio.

The 28-year-old is understood to have a £26 million release clause in his current deal but, in a bid to keep him, Sevilla president Jose Castro has made it clear how much the midfielder means to the side.

Castro told Cadena COPE (via Metro):

‘[N’Zonzi] is a magnificent player. If he was good before, now he is better.

‘We want him to stay here for a long time. We need good players in order to achieve our sporting objectives.’

He finished off by saying:

‘His renewal? The player is succeeding at Sevilla and has to think that the people want him and that we are enjoying his game.

‘I hope that he is here for a long time and [that he is] so happy.’

Arsenal’s reported interest in N’Zonzi may well have been just a rumour just like others currently flying about, but with Arsene Wenger without three midfielders (Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny) for at least a month or so, the Frenchman might just turn speculation into genuine interest this month.
