Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not think full back Carl Jenkinson will be leaving the Gunners despite the club agreeing a fee with Crystal Palace for the player.

The defender is believed to have turned down the offer from Palace, and the Gunners boss told Arsenal.com that things are very much down to the player. He said at a press conference yesterday:

“We are still open because we have many players in his position, but at the moment it doesn’t look like something will happen.”

Things may still change before the transfer deadline tonight but Jenkinson seems to have decided the move to Selhurst Park is not for him. In the same press conference, Wenger hinted that the 24 year old would have limited playing opportunities if he does decide to stay this month.

Arsenal have also been trying to offload fellow right back Mathieu Debuchy before the window shuts, but so far there has been no news either about the Frenchman agreeing a move away from the Emirates. Fitness concerns could be putting off potential suitors for the 31 year old. He has only recently recovered from a hamstring injury and has had other injury problems since arriving from Newcastle in 2014.
