A lot has been said after Arsenal lost their second game of the Premier League season to Everton 2-1 in midweek.

Most of the Arsenal fans attacked the displays of several players the other night, especially that of Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. All three were poor in fairness, but the performances of the England internationals were most disappointing as they failed to get into the game. Ozil was shocking as well, but one man can’t do everything, he needs those around him to perform as well. Walcott was anonymous throughout and his tracking back for the first goal was pathetic, while Chamberlain just couldn’t do anything right. It prompted for the question to be asked if there is a change to be had.

Lucas Perez hasn’t had the most game time since arriving from Deportivo La Coruna over the summer. In fact, the Spaniard has played just 297 minutes of football for Arsenal, starting five games, one of which was in the Premier League. But despite his lack of game time and starts, Perez has netted managed to net five goals in a total of nine appearances in all competitions so far this season, with his performance in the Champions League against Basel the other week his highlight game for the Gunners after bagging a hat-trick. Although he netted that hat-trick, Perez still remains on the bench.

But having witnessed toothless performances from Walcott and Chamberlain, is it time Perez was given a run in the side, and if so, who should he replace?

The question was asked on Twitter, with the possible answers being Walcott, Chamberlain and Perez still a bench warmer the. Here were the results of that poll.

Out of 42 votes placed, 48% believe Perez should take Walcott’s starting berth in the side, while 40% reckon Chamberlain should be replaced by the Spanish forward and 12% still think the summer signing should be warming the bench.

A trip to Manchester City await the Gunners next this Sunday and having watched the game against Everton, if Walcott or Chamberlain replicate their performance from Goodison Park then we could be in serious trouble.

I would like to see Perez start at the Etihad, he can’t do any worse at this point. But I think he will be placed on the bench once again.
