Six English clubs are looking to sign Arsenal defender Rob Holding on loan in January, according to HITC Sport.

HITC reporter Graeme Bailey says Arsene Wenger will allow the centre-back to make a temporary move when the transfer window opens next month. Premier League sides Burnley and Hull City are said to be interested in a six month loan deal until the end of the seaon, but Championship clubs Aston Villa, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City are also said to be in the running.

Holding only joined Arsenal in the summer from Bolton Wanderers for £2.5million but with Per Mertesacker soon to return to full fitness after a knee injury, the 21-year-old could find himself fifth-choice behind the German, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Gabriel Paulista.

So far this campaign, the England Under-21 international has made seven appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
