£21m bid could scupper Arsenal’s transfer plans

|

Juventus have made a £21million bid for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to Goal.com.

Arsenal’s interest in the player was confirmed by the same website back in September when Kessie’s agent revealed the Gunners had sent scouts to watch him.

Juve’s bid is however likely to be rejected with Atalanta believed to be holding out for at least €30million for the Ivory Coast international.

The 19-year-old has had a meteoric rise to prominence over the last few months. This time last year, he was on loan at Serie B side Cesena.

His impressive performances out on loan, however, led to him being included in Atalanta manager’s Gian Piero Gasperini’s first-team plans this season, and he started the campaign in top form with four goals in his first three matches despite playing in a holding midfield role.

He has played 14 matches so far this campaign, helping Atalanta to unprecedented heights in Serie A, with the club currently in sixth place, despite losing to Kessie’s potential new side Juventus at the weekend.
