Arsene Wenger insists Jack Wilshere still has a future at Arsenal after the midfielder recently revealed he was unsure if he’d return to the Emirates at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan over the summer after his omission from the England squad when Sam Allardyce was in charge.

With Wilshere gone, Wenger snapped up Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for £34 million to fill the void, with the Frenchman perhaps thinking the England international wouldn’t get the required game time needed at the Emirates.

The Wilshere loan move did raise a few eyebrows and had some believing it may be a subliminal message that he could be on his way out of Arsenal soon.

However, when asked if Wilshere still has a future at Arsenal, Wenger agreed he did and sees the midfielder staying at the club:

‘That’s my opinion.’

Wilshere’s progression has been marred by frequent injuries and has attracted unwanted press outside of football in the past, which lead to many believing Wenger may get rid of him. This then lead to transfer links, with Manchester City reportedly keen on the midfielder. But the Frenchman clearly views him as an important part of his first-team plans and will perhaps utilize him next season after a year of playing regularly at Bournemouth and proving he has overcome his injury problems.

Wilshere has made six starts out 10 so far for Bournemouth this season.

Does Wilshere still have a role to play at Arsenal?
