Aaron Ramsay has spoken out about his frustrations at being unable to kick on from his impressive European Championships performances.

The midfielder caught up for lost time as he made 50 appearances last season for club and country with his campaign finally coming to a halt on July 1 when Wales beat Belgium to reach the last four in France.

A yellow card in the 3-1 win over Belgium meant that he missed the Euro semi-final defeat from Portugal but further pain was to come in the first Premier League match of the new term:

After the Euros I had, I was desperate to get back and carry that on. Then to get an injury in the first game and a few setbacks after that – it’s been so frustrating.

‘It’s one of those things, you can’t get too down, you just have to get on with it. Luckily the team have been doing well, now we just have to keep that going.’

Ramsey replaced Francis Coquelin in the 65th minute of the 1-1 draw with Spurs then played the full 90 minutes for Wales in their 1-1 draw at home to Serbia.

Arsene Wenger will take a close look at Alexis Sanchez in training today before deciding on his side to play Manchester United knowing that a win would put the Gunners nine points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s side.
