Arsene Wenger was reflecting on Arsenal’s win last night in his post-match press conference when he was asked what he felt the factor was behind the Gunners seemingly scoring more goals than last season.

The north London side had just beaten Bulgarian side Ludogorets 6-0 at the Emirates in the Champions League and have seen big wins against Chelsea (3-0) and Hull City (4-1) as well as scoring three goals in the games against Liverpool, Swansea and Watford.

Their average goals per game is up from 1.5 to 2.6 when you compare this point last season to this season and Wenger offered his opinion on why he thought that was the case. Quoted by Arseblog he said:

“The confidence is high, we have a good balance at the moment in the team and maybe it’s because we’ve been making more of our chances.  The final ball is better. Is that because our finishing is better? It’s difficult to analyse at the moment, but what is for sure is that we score more goals. We score lots of goals. That’s what our game is about. We have a risky game and therefore it’s important that we take our chances.”

The game last night saw Mesut Ozil bagging a hat-trick after goals against Chelsea and Swansea in recent weeks whilst Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez both scored once more as well as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finishing one too.
