Wenger hails Arsenal striker as big game player

|

Speaking to Arsenal.com Arsene Wenger has praised Olivier Giroud for his performances in the big games.

The French striker has been in and out of the side so far this season but, as quoted by football365, Wenger feels that he can rely on the forward when it really counts. The manager said:

‘I am an admirer of Giroud because he has gone through some tough times and he bounces back. When his back is to the wall, he has an answer every time. When I go into a big game, you always think: ‘I can rely on him.”

Giroud has three Premier League appearances to his name this season as well as one Champions League showing and has contributed one assist through that but has seeing playing time limited because of injuries.

He was also not in the France squad over the international break as the EURO 2016 runners-up beat Bulgaria 4-1 and the Netherlands 1-0 to sit on top of the group in their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Whether or not he plays against Swansea this weekend remains to be seen as Arsenal go into the game on a five game winning streak and the Swans see their new manager Bob Bradley make his Premier League debut.
