Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that he is happy to have drawn 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night and lauded his side’s effort to bounce back from a goal down.

Edinson Cavani netted after 40 seconds of the clash at the Parc des Princes, with the Ligue 1 powerhouses looking to strike a definitive blow in the first Group A clash.

However, the Gunners rode their luck as David Ospina kept the hosts out and Alexis Sanchez struck with 13 minutes remaining to ensure the spoils were shared.

Wenger confessed that PSG started the clash as the brighter side and that his team’s second-half performance was much improved as his midfield got forward to support lone forward Sanchez.

“I feel overall we played against a good Paris Saint-Germain team, who started much stronger than us,” he told the club’s official website.

“They played at a high pace, but even in the first half I think we were in trouble mainly when we lost the ball on the counter-attack because they pressed well.

“Even in the first half you could see that if we managed to keep the ball a bit better we would be dangerous – we created chances.

“In the first half, our midfield played a bit too far from Alexis. In the second half we played higher, and after the kick-off in the second half we had a good chance to come back, which we did.

“In the end we have experience in the Champions League and we got a good point.”

Arsenal are now back in domestic action at the weekend and will take on newly promoted Hull City, who have been no pushovers in the Premier League so far.
