Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not on the verge of making a return to first-team action and will not feature against Nottingham Forest or Chelsea in the club’s next two games.

The Wales international is an essential member of the Gunners team but has struggled wit debilitating injuries over recent seasons that have prevented him from building momentum.

After featuring heavily in Wales’ epic run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals in France this summer, Ramsey returned to club duty and picked up an immediate injury.

The former Cardiff City star is on the road to recovery and there were hopes that he would eased back into action this week.

However, with the prospect of a heated London derby against Chelsea on the horizon also, Ramsey will not play a part for the Emirates Stadium side.

“He [Ramsey] is still out – I don’t think he will be ready for the weekend either,” Wenger told the club’s official website.

Theo Walcott has been getting a chance to play in the starting XI in Ramsey’s absence and has looked like a capable operator in recent weeks for the Gunners.

However, the Welshman’s industry is expected to be preferred by Wenger on the right flank upon his return to availability.
