Wenger admits Arsenal attacker may play against PSG

|

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he has not decided on his starting XI to face Paris Saint-Germain as yet but that striker Olivier Giroud may well return to the side.

The powerful centre forward has had a muted beginning to the 2016-17 campaign and has been rested by the Gunners after his exertions for France in the Euro 2016 tournament over the summer.

Giroud is yet to begin a game for the North London side this season, with Alexis Sanchez and new boy Lucas Perez getting the nod ahead of him in the opening four Premier League fixtures.

Wenger has stated that the former Montpellier man is in consideration to feature against the Ligue 1 champions in the opening Group A fixture at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

“I have not decided that,” the Frenchman is quoted as saying by Squawka.

“The players do not know the team. I have 24 hours. Is he ready to start? He is close.”

Giroud will have more competition for a starting berth in attack this season following the arrival of Perez, but the burly Frenchman is still expected to be Wenger’s first choice when he is fully fit.
