A new book detailing the conversations between a journalist and Jose Mourinho has revealed that the former Chelsea boss threatened to ‘break Arsene Wenger’s face’.

The Arsenal manager has never seen eye-to-eye with the outspoken Portuguese trainer and the pair have been at loggerheads since the now Manchester United boss arrived in English football in 2004.

Over two stints as Chelsea manager, Mourinho and Wenger clashed on the touchlines and insulted one another in press conferences.

The Portuguese has labelled his French contemporary as a voyeur and a specialist in failure, while Wenger has questioned the methods used by Mourinho.

The book is written by Robert Beasley and details a number of private conversations and communications that the reporter has had with the United boss over the years.

The most outlandish quote is related to Wenger’s criticism of Chelsea selling Juan Mata to rivals Manchester United, with Mourinho threatening the Frenchman to Beasley in a text message.

“When Mr Wenger criticises CFC and Man United over the deal with Mata…I will find him one day outside a football pitch and I will break his face,” The Daily Mail quote the book as reading.
