Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has stated that he intends to try and buy Arsenal within the next four years.

The Gunners are one of the richest clubs in the Premier League and the astute financial spending of Arsene Wenger over recent years has ensured that the North London side remain well run.

However, plenty of the Emirates Stadium faithful have implored their club to splash the cash and match the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City in the transfer market.

Dangote is a Nigerian billionaire that is believed to be worth around £8.3 billion, making him Africa’s richest man.

The business entrepreneur is an avid Arsenal fan and has stated that he wants to buy the Premier League club as soon as he concludes a number of outstanding commercial projects.

“It’s not about buying Arsenal and just continuing with business as usual,” Dangote told Bloomberg.

“It’s about buying Arsenal and turning it around. I’ve run a very successful business and I think I can also run a very successful team.

“Right now, with what we’re facing, over $20 billion of projects, I cannot do both.

“Maybe three to four years. The issue is that we have more challenging headwinds. I need to get those out the way first and start having tailwinds. Then I’ll focus on this.”

Any injection of money into Arsenal as a club would surely be welcomed and could well allow the side to spend more freely on new players.
