Arsenal target commits short term future to Wolfsburg

|

Arsenal target Julian Draxler has committed his immediate future to Wolfsburg, according to the Mirror.

There was a lot of speculation surrounding the 23-year-old’s future after his performances at the European Championships in the summer, and both the Gunners and Paris St Germain were linked with a move for the German.

However, it appears that the highly-rated midfielder will remain with the German side until at least next summer after being told by the club that he would definitely not be sold.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of Draxler for some time, but any potential move for the German international will now have to wait until at least next summer.

Draxler has yet to find the net so far this season in the six games he’s played for Wolfsburg as he looks to build on a solid first season at the club.

Following a big money move from Schalke in August 2015, the 23-year-old netted eight times in his debut season, and also scored for his country in their 3-0 win over Slovakia at Euro 2016.

However, Wolfsburg may be helpless in trying to keep their star man at the club next summer as a release clause in his contract, the Mirror speculates at around £62 million, will be triggered come the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal go in for Draxler next summer, but it is highly likely that a number of clubs across Europe will show an interest in the young midfielder as a result of that release clause.
