Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has stated that the Gunners must keep their discipline and not get anyone sent off if they are to beat London rivals Chelsea this Saturday.

The game is an early season meeting between two of the Premier League’s title hopefuls and is an ideal opportunity for the North London side to make a statement of intent by beating the visitors at the Emirates Stadium.

The fixture has been full of bad blood in the past, especially given the mutual disdain felt between respective managers Arsene Wenger and former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

Despite the fact that the Portuguese trainer has left Stamford Bridge, tensions are still set to be high with so much on offer in the game.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has stated that although it is sure to be a passionate affair, the hosts must remain disciplined and not get anyone sent off.

“It’d be nice to keep 11 men on the pitch against Chelsea this time round,” he told the club’s official website.

“I know it sounds funny but generally speaking in the last few games against them, it’s always a big clash with a lot of emotions and maybe some mind games.

“First and foremost, it’s a massive game and we just need to keep our discipline and stay in the game. I’d back this team to be able to beat anyone in the league on our day.

“It’s going to be a big occasion but we can’t get too caught up in it, we just need to go out and play our game.”

Arsenal have won their last three Premier League games and are building momentum domestically.
