Arsenal defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Verratti is a player that the Gunners must pay close attention to in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

The North London outfit begin their European campaign in the French capital, with a tricky Group A opener for Arsene Wenger’s men against the Ligue 1 champions.

PSG’s rise to notoriety has been propelled by their wealthy owners in recent years, with superstar players making their way to the Parc des Princes as a result.

Coquelin started against Southampton in the 2-1 Premier League win on Saturday and could well be in line to feature in Europe also.

The former Charlton Athletic loanee has stated that the man will likely come up against, Verratti, is a danger to the visitors’ chances of leaving the French capital with a positive result.

“I think you have one key player in each line,” Coquelin told the club’s official website.

“In the middle, it is difficult because you have Thiago Motta or Marco Veratti who are two really important players. Veratti is the little magician with the ball, so this middle is a strong middle.”

Verratti missed Euro 2016 through injury but is a key figure in the PSG midfield and will need to be closed down by Arsenal if the English side are to record victory.
