Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin’s injury is not as serious as first thought and the star will only be sidelined for two weeks, according to L’Equipe.

The former Charlton Athletic loanee limped out of the Gunners’ impressive 3-0 win over London rivals Chelsea on Saturday, in the only drawback to the victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Coquelin’s injury was initially being touted as a serious blow and there was talk in the press that the French enforcer could be on the sidelines for a number of months.

However, the latest report suggests that the ailment is not as serious as first thought and that the medical staff at the North London club will be able to get him back available for selection in a couple of week.s

Coquelin was replaced by summer signing Granit Xhaka on Saturday, with the Swiss star looking set to deputise in his absence, while Mohamed Elneny is also an option for Arsene Wenger in the side’s boiler room.
