Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has stated that Jack Wilshere can have a major impact for the Cherries this season and get his career back on track.

There is little doubting the England international’s ability but the Arsenal man has struggled with consistent and debilitating injuries over the last couple of years.

His lack of availability has seen Arsene Wenger look to strengthen the heart of the Gunners midfield, with Wilshere a fringe figure in the Frenchman’s plans for 2016-17.

As such, the Emirates Stadium youth product has moved to Howe’s side and will be offered the consistent chance to play with Bournemouth this season.

The Vitality Stadium boss has been talking up his new recruit and feels that the Arsenal man can have an impact with his temporary employers.

Howe told Sky Sports:

“I think it is a brave decision for his career but hopefully a good one.

“Hopefully when he looks back in a year’s time, he will see it as a turning point in his career for the better.

“If you had said to me [a few years ago] that we would have the opportunity to sign someone like Jack I would have said it is not possible.

“It is a moment we look on and think ‘wow, that is a big moment for the football club’.

“It is a different path for us, there are risks attached to that but there are also huge benefits if it goes well.”

The likes of Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin are currently ahead of Wilshere in the pecking order at Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsey also in the mix for a central midfield role.
