Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is considering a move away from the North London club as regular first-team football is currently in short supply, according to The Sun.

The England international left-back is behind Nacho Monreal in Arsene Wenger’s pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, with the home-grown star most commonly used as a substitute.

Gibbs has been deployed in midfield at times by Wenger but more often than not he has been limited to fleeting cameo appearances for his boyhood club.

The defender has two years left on his deal with the Premier League club and the report suggests that he is considering letting his current contract run close to completion in order to secure a move to another club on a free transfer in 18 months time.

Gibbs is clearly a player that Arsenal trust but the presence of Monreal could well push him out of the club in search of more regular action elsewhere.
