Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in the vacant England national post and could become the Three Lions’ boss at the end of the current season, according to The Daily Star.

The FA are looking for a successor to Sam Allardyce after the former West Ham and Sunderland boss was given his marching orders after being entrapped in a media sting.

Wenger has been in charge at the North London club for 20 years and will go down as one of the team’s best-ever managers.

However, talk of the veteran Frenchman moving away from the Emirates Stadium front line has been circulated for a number of seasons, with it remaining to be seen when the former Monaco trainer steps away from Arsenal.

The latest report suggests that Wenger will be approached to gauge his interest in the England post and could take over at the end of the current Premier League campaign.

This would mark the end of his tenure at the Emirates Stadium and mean that Gunners would be looking for his successor to lead the club forward.
