Arsenal need only look at London rivals Chelsea to understand the advantages of the loan system.
Whilst the Blues will be undoubtedly disappointed by the scarcity in which their farmed-out youngsters graduate to the first team, loan moves have added enormous value to a number of their prospects in the past – with Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku being the predominant examples.
That’s not to say Arsenal haven’t benefited; Hector Bellerin and Francis Coquelin both enjoyed temporary spells in the Championship before establishing themselves as a regulars in the Gunners’ starting line-up.
However, Arsenal have loaned out just two players so far this summer – Joel Campbell has linked up with Sporting Lisbon, whilst Wojciech Szczesny has returned to Roma for another year – despite the club being renowned for it’s ability to produce youngsters with enormous potential.
