Arsenal are keeping a close eye on young Benfica forward Diogo Goncalves after being recommended to sign the attacker by former Gunner Giles Grimandi, according to The Daily Mail.

The North London club have a superb youth system and are always in the market to bring gifted young players to the Emirates Stadium.

Goncalves is the latest starlet coming off the production line at Benfica and follows in the footsteps of plenty of world-renowned names to start off at the Estadio da Luz.

The teenage forward represented Portugal at the European under-19 championships in the summer and caught Grimandi’s eye in the process.

Goncalves has an excellent goalscoring record in youth football and Portuguese scout and former Arsenal player Luis Boa Morte has been assigned to assess the 19-year-old.

It is believe that Boa Morte watched the teenage forward feature for Benfica B against Gil Vicente last Friday and will report back to the North London club with his findings.
