Arsenal are set to allow midfielder Jack Wilshere to leave the club on loan this season, according to Sky Sports.

The homegrown playmaker is a favourite at the Emirates Stadium but he has had his fair share of setbacks in recent times.

Consistent injuries have kept Wilshere on the sidelines over the last couple of years and the Gunners man has been omitted from Sam Allardyce’s first England squad as a result.

Arsenal have bolstered their options in the centre of the park in recent times, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny and Santi Cazorla all fighting for a starting berth in the North London team.

This has left Wilshere on the fringes of things, with the Englishman a substitute in the early days of the new campaign.

The report suggests that the England international has asked to go out on loan in an attempt to play more regular first-team football and Arsenal are ready to allow this to happen before the transfer deadline closes on Wednesday night.
