Arsenal are believed to be looking at Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez as a potential solution to their lack of options in the final third and are willing to pay the Spaniard’s £16.9m release clause, according to The Daily Mail.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of new centre-forwards this summer, with some doubts among the Emirates Stadium faithful over whether Olivier Giroud is the man to fire the club to major silverware.

Perez had an excellent 2015/16 campaign at the Riazor, netting 17 La Liga goals in an impressive season.

The 27-year-old continued where he left off in Deportivo’s opener this season, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory against Eibar, while stetting up the other goal.

Perez is believed to have a £16.9 million release clause in his contract with the Spanish side and the latest report suggests that both Arsenal and Everton have made offers to meet this fee.

Indeed, the Merseysiders’ interest in the player was mooted earlier this week, but it appears the Gunners are eager to muscle in and win the race for his signature.
