Arsenal have spent all summer pursuing Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann but have seen their efforts to land the French forward unsuccessful, according to Squawka.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of new forwards this transfer window, with Arsene Wenger believed to want a new attacking player to complement current number nine incumbent Olivier Giroud.

The North London side have had an offer for Alexandre Lacazette rejected, while a host of other reported targets are said to have slipped away.

Griezmann has been a critical player for Diego Simeone’s men since moving to the Spanish capital from Real Sociedad and has helped fire Atletico in major silverware contention.

The France forward also had a standout summer at Euro 2016 and is regarded as one of the most scintillating attackers in the global game.

However, with Griezmann penning a new deal with Atletico earlier this summer, all of Arsenal’s reported efforts to sign him have clearly been in vain.
