Would you have him back at Arsenal?

Most Arsenal fans want Arsene Wenger to sign a striker, me included.

Jamie Vardy was expected to sign for the Gunners after his £20 million release clause was activated. But the England forward opted to stay at Leicester City. Wenger must now look elsewhere if he indeed wants to add to his strike force next season (Takuma Asano doesn’t count).

There is a horde of strikers out there for Wenger to go for – Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain, Romelu Lukaku and so on and so on.

But what about a shock move for former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie? The guy who left the Emirates to sign for Manchetser United and win them Sir Alex Ferguson’s last Premier League title. Could he be on the cards for Wenger this summer.

According to reports, the Dutchman is being put up for sale by Fenerbahce, despite signing a four-year deal with the Turkish outfit.

It is believed Van Persie, 32, is ready to call it quits at Fenerbahce after just one season. Why? Well it’s being claimed that the veteran forward lashed out at his manager, Victor Pereira, a few months ago after suggesting he could not help his team effectively enough by appearing from off the bench. Basically, he’s unhappy and wants to move.

Fenerbahce president Azil Yildirim confirmed this by saying:

‘Van Persie? We’re waiting for buyers, if he wants to be sold’

The ex-Gunner’s representatives are understood to have offered him a number of escape routes, but the Dutchman allegedly wants to return to London.

Whatever you may think of Van Persie, the guy is a clinical striker and would certainly bolster Arsenal’s attack.

However, some sections of the Arsenal faithful will not want to see the striker back at Arsenal, simply because of what happened in the past. Many don’t care about that though.

In any case, at 32 and a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, is Van Persie a possibility for Wenger to consider this summer. And would you guys like to see him back in an Arsenal shirt, or has the damage been done already?
