Watford are weighing up a loan move for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers and have approached the London club to gauge his availability, according to The Daily Mail.

The former Southampton prodigy moved to the Emirates Stadium with a lofty reputation and has played in a number of positions for the Gunners, while also getting international recognition with England since the switch.

Chambers has featured at centre-half, right-back and in midfield for Arsenal, but has seen his first-team opportunities limited over the last six months.

With Arsene Wenger reinforcing the Arsenal squad with a number of new signings, with more expected before the window closes, it remains to be seen just how much football Chambers can expect in 2016-17.

Watford comfortably avoided the drop last term in their first campaign back in the big time and would surely offer the versatile star an environment to progress and added Premier League experience.
