Arsenal have entered the race to sign out-of-favour Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic and could well be ready to steal him away from under West Ham’s noses, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Gunners have seen a bid rejected for Alexandre Lacazette this summer and Jamie Vardy has turned his back on a potential move to the Emirates Stadium from Leicester.

With Juventus signing another reported Arsenal target, Gonzalo Higuain, for £75 million, Mandzukic is likely to play a fringe role in Turin next season should he stay with Max Allegri’s men.

As a result the Croatia international is being tipped to move to the Premier League and West Ham are thought to harbour an interest in the former Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich poacher.

However, with an attempt to land Lacazette up in the air, the Gunners could well move for Mandzukic as an alternative, but concerns will be made among the fans that the new man would be too similar in style to Olivier Giroud.
