Arsenal Invincible Robert Pires believes Everton centre-back John Stones would be good for the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be in the market this summer for a new centre-back and Stones has previously been linked with move to the Emirates.

The 22-year-old, who is currently in France preparing for Euro 2016, is likely to be on several clubs’ shopping lists this summer, and Pires reckons the confident defender would be a good addition to Wenger’s side:

When asked about potential transfers Arsenal should attempt to make, the legendary Frenchman said:

‘Arsenal need English players; the Premier League is very physical.

‘[John] Stones would be a good player for Arsenal.

‘Can you imagine Stones and [Laurent] Koscielny at the back? It would be a good defence.’

Chelsea attempted to sign Stones last year but Everton managed to keep hold of his services.

However, the England centre-back may find it hard to turn down another move away from Everton this summer, especially a club that offers Champions League football.

But would Stones be a good addition to the Arsenal squad as Pires suggests?

Personally, I do believe Stones has the attributes to become a world class defender, but his over confident nature is something he will need to eradicate if he is to get to that level, in my opinion.

If the price is right, and the player wants to leave, I think he would be a very good fit for Arsenal and will suit their style of play as well.
