MahrezIt looks like Jamie Vardy is on his way to Arsenal. It has yet to be confirmed, but it looks more than likely to occur in the upcoming days before the Euros start, or perhaps even after the tournament concludes.

There are mixed feelings amongst the Arsenal fans about seeing Vardy at the Emirates next season as his style of play differs from that of the Gunners.

In any case, if Vardy comes in, Arsene Wenger has brought in a striker which the fans have long been asking for.

But reports are now suggesting Wenger is looking to add Riyad Mahrez as well – which will have the majority of the Emirates faithful very excited indeed.

The 25-year-old winger played an instrumental role in Leicester City winning the Premier League title, contributing 17 goals and 11 assists, and has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal.

It’s understood that the Gunners have been shocked by how low the Algerian’s release clause in his contract, which is unknown to us at this point, and are ready to reunite him with Vardy at the Emirates.

The proposed swoop for Mahrez will surely mean the end for Theo Walcott at Arsenal, with the England international, who has attracted interest from West Ham, already frozen out at the Emirates.

Mahrez would undoubtedly be a superb signing for the Gunners, especially if the Vardy deal goes through as well.

However, do the Gunners really need the Algeria international? In a word. Yes – especially if Wenger is thinking about offloading the likes of Walcott. Mahrez would be an upgrade to the former Southampton forward and was arguably one of the star performers last season in the Premier League.

Get him in, I say.
