Ronald KoemanThe Arsenal faithful are divided over whether Arsene Wenger is still the right man for the job after failing to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners were one of the favourites to win the title this season and were, at one time during the season, looking like contenders rather than pretenders. But, at the end of the day, they were confined to yet another top four finish and a trophyless season, having won the FA Cup in the previous two seasons.

Wenger still has a year left to run on his contract, but Arsenal fans are now split on whether the Frenchman should continue his role as the Gunners head chief, with protests at the Emirates taking place in the past couple of matches.

However, to those wanting Wenger to step down at the end of the season, you may have to wait a few more years before he does, with reports suggesting the Frenchman is ready to commit to another new deal.

Nonetheless, when the time does come for the legendary Frenchman to finally call it quits as Arsenal manager, many wonder and predict who will be his successor, with the likes of Diego Simeone, Joachim Low and others being mentioned.

But former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes Ronald Koeman would be the perfect replacement, with the Southampton boss yet another potential successor mentioned by several of the Emirates faithful.

Merson believes the time has come for Wenger to step down from his position and reckons Koeman is the right man to take his place:

‘Ronald Koeman has done a brilliant job at Southampton.

‘I’d like to see him at Arsenal if I’m honest. He’s a top, top manager.’

Would Koeman be the perfect replacement for Wenger, or are there better options out there to consider.
