Dan CrowleyArsenal youngster Dan Crowley is set for another season away from Arsenal after talks with Arsene Wenger.

The highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder helped Barnsely seal promotion back to the Championship this season, but Wenger does not believe Crowley is ready for the physicality of the Premier League just yet.

It means Crowley will spend another year out on loan in the upcoming season, which will put a host of Championship and League One clubs on alert.

Coventry City are already thought to interested in the teenager, who confirmed he’ll play the majority of his football next season away from the Emirates after a chat with Wenger:

‘I have spoken to the boss (Wenger) and he says I’m not physically ready for the Premier League just yet.

‘That’s fair enough and I completely agree because it’s a tough league on your body and there’s so much running that people don’t realise.

‘So I will work on that and hopefully be ready when my time comes. I don’t want to be pushed in and not be ready. When I get my chance I want to make sure I’m ready and take it.’

Crowley, who has yet to feature for the Gunners, made 13 appearances for Barnsley last season.

Barnsley manager Lee Johnson has described the young midfielder as one of the best 18-year-olds he’s seen in the game, and Wenger and the Emirates faithful also believe he has the ability to succeed at Arsenal.

He is extremely unlikely to feature for the Gunners this season, even if he was physically ready to do so, with a number of high-profile midfielders already ahead of him in the pecking order.

Another season away from Arsenal, playing regularly for hopefully a Championship side rather than a League Once club, would certainly go a long way to developing his game further and gain vital first-team experience.
