Daniel SturridgeThe Sunday papers are suggesting that Arsenal are plotting a £30 million move for Daniel Sturridge when the summer transfer window opens.

It is believed Arsene Wenger wants to strengthen his attacking options at the end of the season and has set his sights on the Liverpool forward.

Sturridge, 26, scored in Liverpool’s 3-0 second leg victory over Villarreal, having been an unused substitute in the first leg in Spain.

Jurgen Klopp described Sturridge’s performance against Villarreal as ‘outstanding’ and also labelled him as ‘an unbelievable player’.

However, Klopp has not always seen eye to eye with Sturridge since taking over at Liverpool in October last year, with the forward also unhappy with his lack of involvement under the German.

Although Sturridge insists there is no friction between him and Klopp, the England international did say he wants to play regularly:

‘I am someone who wants to play every minute of every match so maybe when I’m not starting, it’s hard to take.’

Wenger is now understood to be looking at a potential move for Sturridge, with the Frenchman uncertain who is best to lead the Arsenal attacking line, alternating between Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud.

If goals scored this season is anything to go by, the Gunners need to add firepower this summer, with Spurs, Leicester City and Manchester City all outscoring them.

Sturridge looks a potential recruit for Wenger and although the striker claims he is happy to remain at Liverpool, the former City and Chelsea man has never suggested he wants to stay at Anfield for the remainder of his career.

Should Liverpool be keen to sell Sturridge this summer, Arsenal will make their interest known and competition for his signature might not be as hard to get, as the striker would not make a return to Chelsea or Manchester City.

Sturridge still has three-years left on his existing deal and a fee for him would be tricky to negotiate. Reports suggests Liverpool rate him at the £30 million mark, but potential bidders would argue this due to his injury issues.

Sturridge has scored 12 goals in 23 total appearances this season.

If he become available this summer, should Arsenal express their interest and cough up £30 million for him?
