Will his lack of transfer activity prove costly?

Arsene WengerThere goes another January transfer window, and Arsenal fans will may feel a little underwhelmed with the lack of activity that took place.

Arsene Wenger decided to take a punt and only splash £5 million in the past month on defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel, despite several of the Arsenal faithful, as well as pundits alike, urging the Frenchman to add more additions in order to keep up their pursuit of the Premier League title this season.

However, Wenger opted to keep faith in his current crop and wait for injured players to make a return rather than splash the cash, even though he previously stated it would be a ‘busy’ transfer window. He then backtracked on this statement with 11 days left to run in the window and said he expected a quite end to the window. Unfortunately for those wanting to see more than Elneny come in this winter, it didn’t happen.

Yes, Francis Coquelin is back. Yes, Alexis Sanchez is back. And yes our midfield got more depth with the arrival of Elneny, but has Wenger really done enough to ensure us that our club will be Premier League champions at the end of the season? this remains to be seen. But should this NOT occur, questions will once again be raised about Wenger’s lack of transfer activity. Two signings in one year, could prove a stroke of genius, or pure stupidity – epecially with the amount of time the Frenchman had to strengthen the squad from last summer.

I hope this doesn’t come back to bite me, but even pre-season I was screaming out for Wenger to sign Charlie Austin a proved goal-scorer even in a poor QPR team. Now Southampton have snapped him up for a bargain fee and he scores in his first outing for them
If he scores again against us tonight, I will seriously attack the drinks cabinet

Lack of proper transfer by wenger cost Arsenal 12 years of trophy drought , but hopefully the lack of transfer this window will cost him his job , because Arsenal cannot continue to pay for Wenger Stubbornness and lack of vision has destroyed Arsenal image and made it second tier club while during his twenty years as a manager could have turned Arsenal to one of the pillars of world football. Wenger cares about saving money more than developing Arsenal squad.
