ClickWengerPaul Merson reckons Arsene Wenger may have blown his chance of winning his fourth Premier League title this season after only signing Mohamed Elneny during the January transfer window.

Despite suggesting it would be a busy January transfer window, Wenger only signed Elneny from Basel for £5 million, with the return of a couple of injured players in mind to improve his squad for the remainder of the season and should make you think twice about betting on the Gunners to win the league with a Ladbrokes promotion code.

Deadline Day proved fruitless for the Gunners in terms of buying, but they did manage to send Yaya Sanogo to Charlton and Mathieu Debuchy to Bordeaux until the summer.

Wenger’s lack of transfer activity last month was solely down to key first-team players such as Alexis Sanchez and Francis Coqulin returning from injury.

However, Merson believes Wenger hasn’t done enough to strengthen Arsenal’s title tilt and also says Wenger’s failure to sign a striker for the third consecutive window could be a mistake, especially if Olivier Giroud was to pick up an injury:

‘Mohamed Elneny is nowhere near enough. They definitely needed a defensive midfield player, but also a forward.

‘If Olivier Giroud gets injured then can Theo Walcott come in and score enough goals in the last 15 games?’

Arsenal could have done with a forward coming in, but who was there to buy?

To be fair, they have done well to still be in the title race and the return of Alexis Sanchez has come at the right time.

Could Wenger have done more in the window? Of course he could of. But I still believe we have a big and talented enough squad to go on and win the Premier League title.

Arsenal will never ever win the premier league title under Arsene Wenger. I don’t believe that Wenger doesn’t know the real need to add at least three world class players to balance the team and win .Even if he doesn’t know It was suggested to him by a number of Arsenal legends and former players among them Henry , Ian wright and others , but why is he doing this to Arsenal it is only him who knows

    Too right
When wenger arrived many years ago
He said quality players makes quality
    Results
    Well three quality players
    Eight average players
A few kids and old boys for the subs
    Fourth if we are lucky

I am inclined to agree with Bakri. If Arsenal cant win the epl tis season,he shd go.No ifs and buts. His predictable style of incessant passing as in the Saints game is getting nowhere.
He has been given more than the time given to other top guys and has failed except for the 2 cup wins.

wake up and smell the coffee Wenger. Giroud and Wilcott are not natural strikers. we need someone who can put the ball in the net and not be bellirinas. you blew it for another year. time for you to retire – too much old school thinking. You are hurting us – the Fans

i said b4 xmas that Wenger is blinded by stubbornness and quite honestly madness! to call Walcott and Giroud world class is like saying peter crouch is best striker around. we have needed a striker for years but our once great manager just cant do it. Now we have missed out on the best manager in the world and city will be unstoppable next season. EVERYONE sees this apart from Arsene. The board need to act now and prepare for next season as this one is over!
