Alex Oxlade-ChamberlainRay Wilkins believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should look to depart Arsenal to enhance his chances of making England’s Euro 2016 squad this summer.

The 22-year-old has struggled to cement a regular role in Arsene Wenger’s squad this season and will more than likely see his game time further restricted when key players like Alexis Sanchez returns from his hamstring injury.

The Sun today claimed that Chelsea are once again eyeing up a move for Chamberlain, and former Blues assistant manager Wilkins thinks that a change of scenery is something the winger should think about to ensure he remains part of the England set-up this summer in France:

‘I would say to Oxlade-Chamberlain: leave, because he needs to be playing football.

‘We’ve got these massive Championships coming up in the summer.

‘He’s very positive and he’s quick. I think you could even play him in a midfield three because he can go past people.

‘He’s a super young player and I like him immensely.

‘People use to vie him against Theo [Walcott], but my preference is Oxlade-Chamberlain.’

Although a move away for Chamberlain would be ideal this month for the player himself, Wenger will be highly reluctant to let him leave at this stage of the season, especially with the Gunners challenging for the title.

Either way, I’m sure the Ox will be in Roy Hodgson’s plans.
