Mathieu DebuchyThe race for Mathieu Debuchy’s signature is heating up, as Aston Villa are the latest cub to register their interest in the right-back.

The 30-year-old Frenchman is eager to leave Arsenal this month in search of regular first-team action after losing his place in Arsene Wenger’s side to Hector Bellerin last year.

Wenger has also recently admitted that he could allow Debuchy to leave the Emirates on loan.

Roma, Lyon and West Brom are credited with interest, but Aston Villa also appear keen to snap him up on a loan deal.

Reports now suggest the Gunners are willing to let him depart on a temporary basis for a fee of £1 million which would include an option in the deal to recall him back – should anything happen to either Bellerin or Callum Chambers.

It is believed Debuchy would prefer a move to Roma, having worked with manager Rudi Garcia at Lille in the past, but which out of the four clubs currently interested him would be most beneficial to the ageing full-back and Arsenal in the long-run?

Here’s a quick look at what the four clubs could offer him:

Aston Villa

Debuchy would surely get some game time at Villa Park and could even take Alan Hutton’s position in the side for the rest of the season. However, it terms of being noticed by Deschamps, it probably wouldn’t be the best move for the former Newcastle man.

West Brom

Not a bad option for the Frenchman to consider. The Baggies have not got a recognised right-back in the side and Tony Pulis had to use a centre-back in this position for the majority of the season. Should Debuchy decide to join Pulis’ side, he will undoubtedly get the game time he’s looking for.

Lyon

In terms of being seen more by Dschamps, Lyon would be Debuchy’s best bet. However, with Christophe Jallet, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Rafael current options for Bruno Genesio, it’s hard to see where and when he would feature.

Roma

His preferred choice, and for good reason. With Roma short of options in the right-back position, it’s no wonder why they want to bring him to the Stadio Olimpico this January. Would get the game time he wants, knows the manager, and would also play for one of Italy’s brightest sides in the process.

If he wishes to remain in England, then West Brom would be his best bet at getting regular first-team football. If, however, he would rather go abroad, then, for me, Roma would be his ideal destination.

Which club do you reckon Debuchy should join out of the quartet mentioned?
