Wenger reluctant to sell, and rightly so

David OspinaIt was reported yesterday by the Daily Mirror that Besiktas are trying to get a deal done this month for David Opsina.

The 27-year-old has lost his place in the side after the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer, and the Colombian is growing frustrated at life at the Emirates.

As a result, Ospina is now open to a move away, with Besiktas keen on his services.

Everton and Fenerbahce have been credited with interest in the past, but the Mirror suggests Besiktas are pushing hardest to make a deal happen before the window closes.

However, with Wojciech Szczesny currently on loan at Roma and no back-up to Cech, should he become unavailable, it seems Arsene Wenger will not allow Ospina to depart the Emirates this January.

As harsh as it may sound, Wenger cannot allow Ospina to leave unless of course he has a ready replacement in mind. And if that means the Colombian has to remain on the bench and wait for his opportunity then so be it. He has a contract to honour, and despite wanting to play regularly for Arsenal, he has to realise that he has a world-class goalkeeper ahead of him in the pecking order.
