Wojciech SzczesnyIt was reported yesterday that Roma are in talks with Arsenal over extending Wojciech Szczesny’s loan stay for another season.

The Poland international joined the Serie A club last summer for the entirety of the season after Petr Cech instantly became Arsene Wenger’s first-choice goalkeeper following his arrival from Chelsea, and was also behind David Ospina in the pecking order at the Emirates.

Szczesny has somewhat been ever-present for Roma this season (starting 16 of their 20 Serie A games so far) and has impressed Luciano Spalletti and co, who are now believed to want to extend the 23-year-old’s stay.

The club were not at first keen on keeping hold of Szczesny as they were targeting the services of Internacional goalkeeper Alisson Becker to take his place. However, Roma believe the Brazilian shot-stopper will need time to settle at the Stadio Olimpico and this is why Szczesny is still wanted, with the Pole already experienced in the league.

Szczesny is highly unlikely to get a game for the Gunners next season, with Cech and Ospina ahead of him in the pecking order, and may decide another season with Roma may be his best option of regular game time.

So, should Arsenal allow Szczesny to stay another season at Roma, or should they have him back when his loan deal expires in the summer?
