BorjaReal Madrid are keen to tie down youngster Borja Mayoral to a new deal to fend off interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, according to reports.

The Premier League duo are both considering a move for the 18-year-old striker who has shone for Real’s youth squad. His performances for the Real youngsters were so impressive that he the La Liga club promoted him to the senior squad where he made his debut earlier in the season.

Mayoral has 18 months left to run on his existing contract at the Bernabeu and it is believed Real want to extend his stay for another four years.

Earlier this month, Spanish publication claimed Arsenal were ready to make a move for the Spain Under-21 international, who has been compared to Real legend Raul:

‘I used to look up to Raul because he was always looking for loose balls and paying attention to everything that went on in the area.

‘Then [Karim] Benzema came to Madrid and I studied how he played with his back to goal, and inside and outside the box.’

With just over a day left before the January transfer window closes, it looks highly unlikely that a move for Mayoral will ensue, meaning Arsenal may wait until the end of the current campaign to make an approach.
