Gunners preparing £42M bid for long-term target

|

AubameyangArsenal are readying a £42 million move for long-term target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to The Sun.

The Gunners have been linked with the Borussia Dortmund striker in the past, but a move never materialized.

The 26-year-old moved to Dortmund from Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne in 2013 and has since become a regular for the Bundesliga outfit, as well as a fan-favourite at the Westfalenstadion.

This season, Aubameyang has been in scintillating form for Thomas Tuchel’s side, racking up 24 goals and five assists in 23 total appearances thus far.

The player is understood to be happy at Dortmund, but it is now believed that a move for the Gabon international could be on this month, with an intermediary now talking to Dortmund on behalf on the Gunners’ behalf.

A source said:

‘An intermediary has made contact with Dortmund about Pierre-Emerick making a move to Arsenal.

‘Wenger knows the fee is very high – yet this is a striker who can make a massive difference for him and help win the title for the first time in 12 years.

‘But there is a lot of interest in him.’

Arsenal have the cash to meet Dortmund’s valuation this month but may have to fend off reported interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, all whom have been linked with a move for versatile forward.

Undoubtedly this would be a massive for Arsenal, and one that would certainly please the fans.

Aubameyang’s versatility upfront would do wonders for our current squad, but it looks like there is still a long way to go for this proposed transfer to go through – if it does happen, then what a signing he would be, and Arsene Wenger would have done some great business once again.
