Do Arsenal really want him?

nolitoArsenal are now reportedly ready to pay Celta Vigo £13.4 million to land Nolito this January, after Guillem Balague insisted 21 days ago that the Gunners withdrew their interest because of the player’s price-tag.

It’s believed Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his attacking options this month, and Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims the Frenchman is now more than willing to trigger Nolito’s release clause of £13.4 million.

Barcelona are also said to be interested in the Spain international, and the player himself is thought to be eyeing up a return to the Nou Camp.

Nolito has scored eight goals and made five assists in 15 La Liga appearances thus far this season for Celta, who sit in fifth place in the league table.

Nolito would be an ideal signing for Arsenal, but if Wenger really wanted him at the Emirates this month, why hasn’t he coughed up the money already?

Although the Spaniard is 29, £13.4 million is not a huge amount of money to spend on a striker who could do a job for us for at least the next 2-3 seasons.

I don’t believe Arsenal are looking at him, as Wenger is awaiting the return of Alexis Sanchez and already has Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott available.

Like I said, if Arsenal wanted to complete this deal then they would have done so already – not dillydallied over whether to spend £13.4 million.
